Microwave Therapy

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCEDURE

Microwave therapy is a therapeutic method involving an ultra-high frequency electromagnetic field. Microwaves are located on the "border" with light waves in the electromagnetic wave spectrum. They have some properties of radiant energy.

HOW THE PROCEDURE IS PERFORMED?

This method is based on the use of the energy of ultrahigh frequency-low power electromagnetic field, supplied to the patient's body using emitters. The mechanism is as follows:

  • the waves coming out of the device are collected in short beams;
  • the wave elements penetrate the patient's body;
  • they effuse and affect the tissues over a period determined by the physiotherapist.

INDICATIONS

  • osteoarthritis of the cervical, thoracic, lumbosacral spine;
  • rheumatoid arthritis (stage 1, 2, and 3);
  • acute and chronic pneumonia;
  • hypertension (not higher than stage 2A);
  • joint, ligament rupture;
  • bursitis;
  • stomatitis;
  • pyelonephritis;
  • cystitis;
  • chronic bronchitis;
  • prostatitis;
  • scapulohumeral periarthritis;
  • sinusitis;
  • purulent skin inflammations;
  • nervous diseases (not leading to other disease exacerbation).

CONTRAINDICATIONS

  • acute inflammatory processes accompanied by edema syndrome;
  • acute purulent inflammations;
  • malignant tumors;
  • cardiac failure;
  • class 3 angina;
  • stomach ulcer with complications;
  • epilepsy;
  • type B gastritis;
  • hyperthyroidism;
  • myocardial infarction suffered in less than three months;
  • coagulation failure;
  • metal implants;
  • pregnancy.

RESULTS OF THE PROCEDURE

Therapeutic doses of microwaves activate cell respiration, stimulate enzymatic activity and increase metabolism. This therapy has analgesic, antispasmodic, bacteriostatic, and anti-inflammatory effects.
